What 'Made in the UAE' should really mean!

Growing up we often looked bellow our toys or at the tags of the shirts we wore out of curiosity. And when we did we often read "Made in China, Made in India, Made in Taiwan". What does it REALLY mean to be made in a place?

There are rules applied that makes a product eligible to stick the "Made in X" tag on it. The golden rule is that you produced the product yourself.

Producing a product means creating it from raw material.

Producing a product by bringing different parts from across the globe and putting it together is called assembly NOT production.

When a pistol parts is made in Germany, by German workers and expertise, you can't stick the Made in UAE tag on it. Simply because it was not made in the UAE.

Why am I making an issue out of this you probably wonder? Simply because I want to witness that day where most of our products are made solely & entirely by us. Also, I realize the big mistake that being unable to differentiate between production and assembly can lead to.

If we can't distinguish what is made in the UAE and what isn't then we would never put a lot of effort in producing nor manufacturing.

لا خير في أمة تأكل مما لا تزرع و تلبس مما لا تصنع
